And what is a dojo, you ask? Joe Hyams in his book
"Zen in the Martial Arts" says:

"A dojo is miniature cosmos where we make contact with ourselves -- our fears, anxieties, reactions, and habits. It is an arena of confined conflict where we confront an opponent who is not an opponent but rather a partner engaged in helping us understand ourselves more fully. It is a place where we can learn a great deal in a short time about who we are and how we react in the world. The conflicts that take place inside the dojo help us handle conflicts that take place outside. The total concentration and discipline required to study martial arts carries over to daily life. The activity in the dojo calls on us to constantly attempt new things, so it is also a source of learning -- in Zen terminology, a source of self-enlightenment."

FO: Mittens #4

FO Report: #4 Mittens
Designer: Again, ??
Pattern Source:
Weekend Knitting
Yarn: Cuff:  Leftover Toasty Toes from my Clapotis #1;  Hand: Cascade Lana d'Oro (wool/alpaca)

Needle Size: US5 I think

Gauge:
 6 sts = 1"
Date Completed: Dec 2005
Recipient:  The MIL

Overall, these mittens went well;  I liked the contrast cuff, and especially because it matched a scarf that I gifted the MIL for her birthday last year.  I made the women's Large.  (There's a story there that you can ask me about another time, but I'll refrain from blogging about it here.)  In any case, these are mittens #4 to report from the Holidays of Mittens this year, and I can imagine making this pattern again ... though the chunky version in the same book is just simply more tempting for an ADD girl like me.

Like I said ... double strand knitting just might be my best friend in 2006, the Year of the Stash.

They look really great!

I did something silly on mine, I sewed down the pointy tips. Now I have square mittens.

Great mittens and I love the use of the Interlacements on the cuff of the mittens. Great idea!
