And what is a dojo, you ask? Joe Hyams in his book
"Zen in the Martial Arts" says:

"A dojo is miniature cosmos where we make contact with ourselves -- our fears, anxieties, reactions, and habits. It is an arena of confined conflict where we confront an opponent who is not an opponent but rather a partner engaged in helping us understand ourselves more fully. It is a place where we can learn a great deal in a short time about who we are and how we react in the world. The conflicts that take place inside the dojo help us handle conflicts that take place outside. The total concentration and discipline required to study martial arts carries over to daily life. The activity in the dojo calls on us to constantly attempt new things, so it is also a source of learning -- in Zen terminology, a source of self-enlightenment."

Tuesdays (and Wednesdays) are for knitalongs

The Blissful Jacket!!

Hey, fellow, blissful jacket-alongers:  WARNING. WARNING.  It's not like I didn't read Marirob's entry on finishing her jacket ... I did.  But, in the category of "Jenifer doesn't really pay attention sometimes," we have this to show:

My finished fronts and backs, with the collar that the ever-so-trusting-Jenifer knit as per Debbie Bliss' instructions.  Yes, ladies, we can call that a gigundo collar .... so I'm off to rip it out this week and to do what Marirob suggested to begin with.  Possibly I'll be FO'ing this baby this week.

But at least I finished the sleeves in my meager knitting allowance these last two weeks.

And in other news...

... yes, aren't you wondering about those Sockapal-2-za socks??  Here's ONE of them ...

This one actually just needs the toe to be completed, then kitchenered, as that's how far I got last night after the photo was taken.  And the other is on its way.  I'll be dedicating the better part of this week to their completion, with Estimated Time of Departure being just before noon on Saturday.  I know that I'm slightly tarday on these, but cutting back on my knitting hours has thrown me for a loop ... I'm just not good at gauging when I'll be able to finish stuff.  I hope my Secret Sock Pal likes them. :)

And to show that I'm completely insane, I've just signed up for this puppy:

Yes, and this is what I'm planning on doing ...

The Curry Cabled Cardigan (Cara's version turned out great!)  with this yarn:

And because I obviously can't joint enough knit-alongs at one time ... I'm going to work on this:

Yes, the Modern Quilt-along is to use this book:

And I have decided which quilt to make from it yet ... but you can browse the designers' galery here.  I'll do an entry by itself on my sewing adventures (if I ever manage to finish the bags that I've started on ...).   Thanks to my SP Lisa for pointing me the way on this quilt-along!

No more progress on any other knitalongs, though I'm thinking of them.  (Does that count?)

Loving that sock yarn! What is it? It looks 'warm'.

Hi there - yes, I am another JeNifer. What yarn are you using for your socks in this post? So cute! It's the first yarn I've seen that makes me want to knit socks.

Wow! I love that cabled cardi-- I made a hoodie for the Lil' Bit with the same Jo Sharp yarn and really liked it. It's still keeping him warm and toasty on chilly morning walks!

Things are looking good. Way to go with the almost finished object. One of these days I may finish a sweater. I should get cracking so I have something to wear to the Knit thingie on the 24th. ( I can't remember the name. Good thing you are the president!)

I'm sorry about the collar mishap! But at least it's a small amount of knitting compared to other things that could have happened, right? I can't wait to see it finished!

I love all the colors you've chosen. Jewel tones are my friends!

I knit that curry cabled sweater in Wool-ease (around Dec. '02). Love love love that sweater, even though it is in a color so hideous it was discounted to $1/ball.

I think I am going to really like your blissful jacket. I love the color pink you chose, what will be the contrast color?

Keep plugging away on the socks, gotta get those done.

You sure do join a lot of KALs, don't ya? Although the curry cable cardigan is one that I love too. So I totally understand about that one.
