And what is a dojo, you ask? Joe Hyams in his book
"Zen in the Martial Arts" says:

"A dojo is miniature cosmos where we make contact with ourselves -- our fears, anxieties, reactions, and habits. It is an arena of confined conflict where we confront an opponent who is not an opponent but rather a partner engaged in helping us understand ourselves more fully. It is a place where we can learn a great deal in a short time about who we are and how we react in the world. The conflicts that take place inside the dojo help us handle conflicts that take place outside. The total concentration and discipline required to study martial arts carries over to daily life. The activity in the dojo calls on us to constantly attempt new things, so it is also a source of learning -- in Zen terminology, a source of self-enlightenment."

It's sort of like my birthday, all over again!

Presenting my little T Twist Tee! (Click there for the link to the pattern on knitty.com)

(That's me in this photo -- Thanks again to supermodel Erica for helping me out with the modeling in Knitty!  I'll tell that story tomorrow ...)

If you're wondering about the location of the photos in Knitty, we took them at the Boulder Teahouse.  It has a really interesting history -- over three years, artisans from Tajikstan were brought to its sister city, Boulder, to construct an  authentic teahouse.  You can read more about it here

If you're thinking of making the shirt, I suggest that you find a yarn that blocks well -- the front and back decreases create a little "poof" in the fabric at the point where 3 sts become one.  If you find a yarn that blocks well, you can block out the "poof" -- I'd be a little worried about something that was 100% acrylic, or perhaps even all-cotton.

Here are just a few yarns that you could substitute for the Debbie Bliss Cotton Angora:

Knitpicks' Main Line
Knitpicks' Andean Silk
Lion Wool-Ease
Lion Cashmere Blend
Artyarns Supermerino
Artyarns Serenade
Brooks Fiber Farm Four play
Cascade Indulgence
Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran
Filatura di Crosa Zarella
Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran and Aran Tweed

Please let me know if you make this pattern, and I'll post your photo, and/or share your link!

Meanwhile, go check out these finished Tees that I've seen ...

reluctantMANGO made her tee out of Brooks Fiber Farm Fourplay.  She made hers a little longer, and she used two single-stitch decreases at the center front and back, to avoid the poof.  Brilliant!

Your tee is very captivating and I agree that it looks great on you as well as on the model on KNitty. I would like to try it in my all-time fave Jo Sharp Aran tweed, I'll let you know...

I love the t. I was wondering how hard it would be to make it with longer sleeves. Just keep knitting i suppose. If you have any tips on working that into the pattern, i would love it in a 3/4 length sleeve and if you have time i would love any suggestions from people.

Congrats on your pattern making it into knitty! I love it, I have to add it to my list of projects. My husband and I ate at the teahouse a couple of times in the past. I have not been there in years.

Congrats on your knitty pattern!!!

I recently knitted a sweater with Blue Sky Cotton instead of the cotton angora. Take a look here:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/crankyisgood/85377432/in/set-528303/

I think it's a great substitute, rather similar in weight and texture... it even sheds like crazy, just like the cotton angora! :)

Congratulations! It's a very cute top. I was thinking when I looked at Knitty this morning, where is Jenifer's pattern! I'm proud to say I know you and I love the pattern. This might make it's way into my summer knitting repertoire this summer. I wonder if Cotton-Ease would work for this pattern? Hmm. . .
