And what is a dojo, you ask? Joe Hyams in his book
"Zen in the Martial Arts" says:

"A dojo is miniature cosmos where we make contact with ourselves -- our fears, anxieties, reactions, and habits. It is an arena of confined conflict where we confront an opponent who is not an opponent but rather a partner engaged in helping us understand ourselves more fully. It is a place where we can learn a great deal in a short time about who we are and how we react in the world. The conflicts that take place inside the dojo help us handle conflicts that take place outside. The total concentration and discipline required to study martial arts carries over to daily life. The activity in the dojo calls on us to constantly attempt new things, so it is also a source of learning -- in Zen terminology, a source of self-enlightenment."

UFO FO's #2, #3, and #4

FO Report: UFO #2, Reverse Bloom Washcloth
Designer: Cindy Taylor
Pattern Source: IWK Winter 03, or
Weekend Knitting
Yarn: dishcloth cotton
Needle Size:  as rec.
Gauge: around 18 sts = 4" I think
Date Completed: Feb 2006
Recipient:  my bathroom

How lame is it that this is perhaps my oldest UFO in my closet?? I made this in the spring of 03, before I even began blogging ...  I seriously only needed to weave in the ends!  Five minutes worth of work!  Thank you, UFOlympics, for coming along ...

Maybe some day I'll make one of these in Cotton Chenille, what the pattern really calls for.

FO Report: Vegan Fox Scarf
Designer:  Marie-Christine Mahe
Pattern Source:
Knitty pattern
Yarn: Wool-Ease, Bernat Boa, Patons Allure
Needle Size:  10.5 and 15
Gauge: around 7 sts = 4"
Date Completed: Feb 2006
Recipient:  myself (I don't think I could find anybody to give this to!)

Here we go with another FO that just needed to be sewn and finished ... I loved this pattern the first time I saw it.  Throw in an indescribable urge to buy novelty yarns one day (they were on sale!), and I cast on for this scarf .  The knitting goes by pretty quickly, but the finishing does take a little time.

I'm halfway toying around with the idea of making a larger one, perhaps in black or white or gray, and making it wider and longer so I can use it as a goofy stole.  We'll see about that ... the Big Sweetie here is pretty freaked out by this, and as he's usually my date at fancy functions, I'm not sure he'd be able to cope.

FO Report: Panta
Designer: a Craftster crafter
Pattern Source: first see the Craftster thread;  then, these instructions (Word doc)
Yarn: Naturespun Worsted
Needle Size:  8
Gauge: about 4.5 sts = 1"
Date Completed: Feb 2006
Recipient:  Moi-même

One more little FO that was halfway done and needed finishing.  This only takes about 100 yards, and is a quick knit.  I like it because it allows me to wear my hair up (see photo below), or long, without giving me as bad a case as hat head.  I've since been wearing it and I've even received compliments on this ugly gray thing.  Next up ... how about doing this in a nicer yarn?  I have some opinions on the pattern, so if I end up making one with variations, I'll post it here some day.

And look!  There's even a Panta-along.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

That's all for now.  Coming soon ... four baby sweaters!

(I'm starting to doubt whether I'll hit 16 FO's, however, and still finish the sleeve on my Olympic sweater... when is the last day of the Olympics??)

I really like all of these FOs. The washcloth is practical. The Vegan Fox Scarf is perfect for Boulder (hee, hee). The Panta is ultra funky.

What a load of FOs! You go girl! You're doing a great job! I'm glad you finished a few UFOs that were just hanging around. The vegan fox stole turned out pretty cute.

Je ni fa,

You so crack me up! The stole, ah perhaps a little Red Socks on the tail could persuade him...jr

I think the Olympics are over on Sunday the 26th.

Also, cotton chenille is sooooo not worth it. I wouldn't use it again.

Hee hee - I have one of those washcloths that just needs the ends woven in! Thanks for the Panta links - I think I need one of those...

God, you are so prolific.

The flower washcloth is my go to project for gifts. Aren't they just great?!

And I love vegan fox and panta. A fox stole makes the day, is what I'm saying here.
